HOLZER HOLZER & FISTEL, LLC ANNOUNCES INVESTIGATION INTO POTENTIAL CLAIMS FOR BREACHES OF FIDUCIARY DUTY BY CERTAIN OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS OF METLIFE, INC.

ATLANTA, GA - - (Businesswire – January 19, 2012) - - Holzer Holzer & Fistel, LLC announces that it is investigating potential breaches of fiduciary duty by certain officers and directors of Metlife, Inc. (“Metlife” or the “Company”) (NYSE: MET). On January 12, 2012, an institutional investor filed a class action lawsuit in the Southern District of New York alleging that Metlife violated the federal securities laws between February 2, 2010 and October 6, 2011 (the “Class Period”). The lawsuit alleges, among other things, that Metlife failed to adequately reserve funds for the payment of benefits to policyholders’ beneficiaries when it knew or had reason to believe the policyholder was deceased. According to the complaint, this alleged failure to adequately reserve funds caused the Company to overstate its financial results during the Class Period.

Holzer Holzer & Fistel, LLC’s investigation seeks to determine if the allegations contained in the class action complaint also give rise to separate claims for breaches of fiduciary duty.
